Camp Gone To The Dogs
Camp Gone to the Dogs

Camp Gone To The Dogs is a celebration of dogs and all the ways they bring joy into our lives.

About Our Company
Camp Gone to the Dogs was founded 19 years ago in Putney, Vermont. The purpose of the Camp is to provide a vacation for dog lovers and their dogs. Dogs of any age are welcome. They have had puppies as young as 10 weeks and dogs as old as 17 years. If you hate to take a vacation without your dog Camp Gone to the Dogs is for you. Jeanne Richter is the Director of Camp Gone to the Dogs. She lives in NJ with her husband and two Polish Lowland Sheepdogs Zorro and Zeta. She has been a dog lover since she was a young child. This is her third career and definitely her favorite. Jeanne is the first to state how lucky she is to love her job. The Camp’s guiding principles are kindness, fairness and love. They only use positive training methods— treats, toys, play and petting. If it's not fun for your dog, they won't do it.

What Can I Expect From Camp Gone To The Dogs?
There are 3 Camps scheduled for 2009. From May 31 through June 6 Summer Camp will be held at Marlboro College in Marlboro, VT. This Camp offers the most activities of the three Camps. There are two fall Camps scheduled in Stowe VT from September 6-12 and September 13-19. Popular classes include all levels of agility, lure coursing, K-9 disc, fly ball, free style dancing, tracking, tricks, fun and games and all levels of obedience. These classes are offered at all three Camps. Additionally, there is sheep herding, dock diving, touch swimming lessons, canine water sports, guided hikes and hunting which are only offered at the Summer Camp. Crafts are very popular at all 3 Camps. Leash making, toy making and Pawtraits are some of the craft offerings. Nightly there are lectures given by staff members on many different topics.

The June Camp is held on Marlboro College, which is 250 acres. Housing is in dormitories, cabins and an inn 2 miles away where the rooms have private baths. The campus has a pond and beautiful trails to hike. The fall Camps are held at the Mountaineer Inn at Stowe, VT. This is an 8-acre grassy and shaded acre site bordered by a brook. There is nearby swimming for the dogs and a beautiful 5-mile walking path behind the Inn.

How Much Is Camp And What Do I Need To Bring?
The Camp fee is per person and includes 2 dogs, you can view the fees on our website. Campers need to bring clothing and personal items. We provide bedding, towels etc. The dogs need collar and leashes. We have all the dog training items. All food is provided and is of the highest quality. We take pride in the delicious, freshly prepared food at all our Camps, with all-you-can-eat choices for everyone, including vegetarians. Ask anyone who's been to camp about the food and you'll get rave reviews.

Will There Be Instructors To Train My Dog?
Absolutely! Our camp's instructors are not just "on" the cutting edge; they are the cutting edge. If there's a way to make it enjoyable for dogs to learn, they'll find it. They have received national acclaim, written books, given international seminars and run training centers. Training with Camp's instructors will spoil you. When you see how enthusiastically and joyously your dog learns when you teach positively, you won't want to train any other way.
